THE PROJECT
It is all about Resorts World Sentosa project.
The last phase of Resorts World Sentosa is a marine life discovery centre. We supplied Caltite to all of the water retaining structures in this phase, the total quantity of Caltite supplied is about 120,000m3. Among all the tanks, there is a huge RC Oceanarium which is the centre of attraction and is also recorded the largest in the World. It's capacity is apporx. 20 million gallon or approx. 91,000 cu. metre of seawater and the depth of the tank is up to 12m.
Design constraints
With such a huge seawater tank, it is definitely intolerable to have leakage in anywhere of the structure. However, if leak does identified, it is utterly crucial to make sure that the leakage is repairable in short time and most of all, the leak should not persist by spreading to other places. If not, it will cause constant inconvenience to the client and also putting the durability of concrete under high risk.
Solutions
Cementaid proposed to use Caltite® System to dose into the concrete. This is to make the entire concrete to be hydrophobic. On top of that, Caltite® System in concrete controls the water absorption property of concrete to the lowest (constantly <1.0% under BS1881:Pt122:83 ed).
